Pool Closing For The Season

Wednesday, August 12th, 2020

Wow! With COVID-19, we weren’t even sure we’d be able to get a pool open, but we did it, and what a great summer we’ve had! We’ve only had to close a few times for thunder and rain, and that hot stretch       certainly made the pool worthwhile. And you were all great with the new COVID rules this summer — and we thank you for that.

But as the song goes: School bells ringing, children singing, it’s time for back to school again. And that’s exactly where we’re at. We were blessed to have the most outstanding team of lifeguards and pool staff this summer. But many of them are college students, and soon they will be busy packing their cars and heading off to various schools and colleges for the fall.

In normal years, we close one pool and combine the remaining staff to keep the other pool open. This year we don’t have an overflow of staff to make this possible. The shortage of staff, combined with the unusual lateness of Labor Day this year, makes it necessary to close the pool on        Sunday, August 23.

You will notice some activity around the pool even after it has been closed. This is our routine fall maintenance — repair work on the concrete decking, repairs to the pool tiles and fencing among other necessary maintenance. But PLEASE  do not be tempted to jump the fence for a quick dip. The chemical levels in the pool will not be to your    liking and in fact may be hazardous to your health. Plus, we have security cameras, so you won’t get away with it.

It’s been a great summer, and we salute all of our lifeguards and staff members who will be heading back to school. You were a terrific team, and we couldn’t have done it without you!!
